My name is Laryana. My interests are playing volleyball. I was born in Gainesville, Florida. My hobbies are swimming, reading comic strips, hanging out with friends and family. My goal for the future is to go to college and become a doctor. Also my ultimate goal is to be the first one in my family to finish high school and go to college.
I just finished a really good book. The book is called “Annie’s Baby” by Beatrice Sparks. The book was really good. I really enjoyed it because it shows and explains about some of the things that teenagers go through in high school. I chose to do the book poster on this book because I thought that people should read this book and understand that they can go through the same thing. I chose to do the book poster blue and pink. I did that because the cover of the book was blue and pink so I said I would match the book with the poster.

Hello. My name is Jenna. I live in Florida. Im a dancer and I dance everyday of the week. New York is my dream place to live. I wouldn’t call myself girly because I grew up with guys, but I can be both. I live on the water. I love to go on the water and go jetskiing or boating. I love the outdoors…4-wheeling is a lot of fun too. Fishing and tanning are something that I do a lot too. My family and friends are really important to me. In the future I think I want to be a veterinarian. I love pets and get attached easily to them.
The book i read for my project was Crank. It was about a girl who went to visit her dad for the summer.

Ninth grade students have completed the Book Poster Project to encourage other students to read. The posters were designed to advertise the book each student chose to read independently. There were guidelines about the number of graphics and key words to be included. Also, each student had to finish the expression “You will really enjoy this book because it will make you feel that . . .” Posters were submitted to the media center’s Super Fabulous Poster Contest and ten winners were chosen. The winner’s posters will be enlarged to 2×3 feet and will be displayed in our media center. Students, your posters were very creative and well-done! I am glad I wasn’t a judge!

Hey everyone! hope your summer is going great. I just started reading a new book called Sunday at Tiffany’s by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet. So far of what I read it’s a really good book, about a girl Jane and her imaginary friend Michael. Jane’s a lonely girl since her mother’s a big broadway star and never has time for Jane. But on Jane’s ninth birthday Michael must leave because there are other lonely children who need a friend.
Well hope you like what I wrote so far and hope you give it a try. You’ll like it! I already do and can’t put it down….Mr.Todd

Hi, I’m Amanda
Some of my interests are math, reading and science.I enjoy playing with my dogs, and going to my best-est friends house.
Over the summer I plan on spending time with my best-est friend in the world. I also look forward to sleeping in the first couple of days.
In English our class and I did a book project. I read the book Briana’s Gift by Lurlene McDaniel. The book was very good and kept me on my toes wanting to know what would happen next. It was so hard to put the book down. I read the book in two days it was such a good book. Currently I’m not reading a book but looking for one similar to Briana’s Gift. Hopefully I will find another book that will keep me on my toes.

My name is Eric and I’m fifteen years old. I absolutly hate school and it doesn’t get any better when you have moved 3 times in your ninth grade year. I have two sisters I have many hobbies. I love to take photos and I’ve been doing it since seventh grade. My plans for the future are to finish high school and go to Radiology school to become a radiologist.
The book that I read for my English assignment was The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks. The book was about a young woman named Julie Suppola who was married for seven years but suddenly her husband died from cancer. So a few days after he dies she receives this gift. It was a dog which she didn’t want but there was a secret about the dog that was not common with ordinary great Danes- he was very talented. So afterwards she decided that she wants to be put back out into the dating scene by choosing between two men. One happens to be her brother-in-law. But when she finally chooses she realised that her brother-in-law was the best thing for her.
We also had to do a book project on our current book which I did mine on The Guardian. I had a plain black border with a couple of pictures of the book and of the author Nicholas Sparks. When you make a good enough project you could have been chosen to win the contest that we had at school. Mine was not chosen when I thought mine was pretty good.
Eric

To My (Former) Students;
I apologize for the lack of activity on this blog. I had some technical issues, then was away from my computer for awhile. Now that I’m back, I’m looking forward to reading about what you are reading!
So far this summer, I’ve read Summer at Tiffany’s, a true account of two girls who worked for Tiffany & Co. in New York the summer of 1945. I don’t think it would appeal to men, but I found it interesting for the setting ( NYC, Tiffany’s, 1945 — end of WWII) and for the point of view (young college student from the Midwest seeks adventure in the Big Apple.) It’s interesting and funny in parts. I also re-read a few Agatha Christie novels. You can’t beat a good Agatha Christie mystery on a stormy afternoon.
Now I am reading The Shack by William P. Young. A good friend recommended it, saying it was “life-changing” so I thought I should read it. When I went to pay for it at Books a Million, the young man behind the counter said the same thing — that it was “life-changing!” I’m just getting into it, but I’ll let you know if it changes my life!
The story is about a father and husband trying to deal with the tragedy of the abduction and apparent murder of his youngest daughter. Four years later he is “invited” back to the shack where his daughter’s bloody clothes were discovered. At the shack, he seeks the answer to his seemingly unanswerable question: Where was God and why did He let such a horribly brutal thing happen to his daughter, Missy? I’m just at the part where he has gone back to the shack and is dealing with his emotions and what he has discovered there.
I am planning to read James Patterson’s novel, Sunday at Tiffany’s next. Check out the blog by “Mr. Todd” about this book.
I am looking for titles to add to my classroom library. I am considering buying the Stephenie Meyers books ( Twilight, New Moon, etc). If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
I look forward to reading your blogs! Keep posting!
Before I close, I just have to say, Great news on the FCAT scores! A vast majority of you made huge learning gains in reading this year. In fact, the administration is crediting those gains with getting our school the “A” grade this year — a first for any of the high schools in the County! Way to go! I am so proud of all of you!
So keep reading, and keep up those skills you worked so hard to get!
Mrs. Evans
